I was born in 1994 with cerebral palsy; fortunate enough to always be cared for by my family, and treated to a normal social and academic upbringing. After college I knew I was ready for my next step:  I wanted to live on my own.

Through the Regional Center of Orange County, I was put into contact with the FHA organization Community Support Solutions. Founder and Owner Janeth McDonough has a heart for her clients as big as the sea, truly wanting the best life outcomes for them. Due to her strenuous attention to regulation and detail, the process of finding the perfect home was long… but oh.so. worth it.

I was placed in the home of the Vasquez family, who (as some of the most loving people I have ever met) took me in, going above and beyond, and truly accepted me as one of their own. I was truly fortunate enough to not only be granted access to every square inch of their meticulously maintained home, but to be gifted with my own little studio adjoined to their house. Here I was able to create a kitchenette of sorts, decorate, and live as I pleased: adult life, on my own terms, with the support I needed. Receiving the independence I craved, here I was able to do things such as:  grocery shop, cook, make target runs, and host many get togethers with family and friends.

The Community Support Solutions Staff and the Vazquez family, have stood by (behind, and in front of) me in times of joy, and stress, sickness, and health, always doing their best to champion and support my goals and needs. Overall, I would partake in this experience again."
